Variable
Controller (VC)
The Variable Controller was designed using a detailed study of the dynamics of belaying and rappelling. The result was the Variable Controller's unique wedge shape, which gives climbers a choice between smooth controlled rappelling and snatch free belaying. The narrow slots combined with the narrow side of the wedge to force the ropes into a tight 'S' bend controlling the rope smoothly and effectively particularly when rappelling. By reversing the Variable Controller to allow the rope to feed into the deep end of the wedge you can belay and payout in complete control, even with chalked up gym ropes. The Variable Controller is made from forged HE 30 aluminium to ensure long-term durability and minimum rope wear. Combine it with Wild Country's dedicated belay biner to make the perfect belay system.

SRC Belay Device The SRC, an innovative idea from Wild Country, has been combined this year with another piece of excellent design, a dedicated belay karabiner with an anti-flip protecting gate shroud. Once in place the karabiner is prevented from rotating on the belay loop and encourages the karabiner and belay device to remain correctly orientated. The SRC stops a fall or controls a lower by forcing the belay karabiner up an accelerating ramp, trapping the rope between biner and end post. In dynamic tests the SRC transmits a lower peak force to the belay system and therefore can be used on traditionally protected routes as well as bolt protected sports climbs. The SRC system is light weight and affordable and you will come to appreciate its outstanding performance in all sport belaying functions, paying out and taking in, holding someone as they 'work' a move, lowering off and of course holding a fall. |
