Winter wheels are wheels that utilze a wider rim, increasing the width and volume of normal MTB tires. Making your winter riding experience much more enjoyable. Now you can ride on trails that are softer, more slippery, or more churned up than you could with conventional rims

These rims and wheels will fit most modern mountain bikes without modifications. Simply swap rims and re-adjust your brakes. They work with cantilever, disc, Magura (stock out of the box), and V-brakes. The V-brakes tend to stick out a little farther, but is less noticeable on larger frames. V-Brakes can be modified to work better as well by thinning out/or reversing the pad washers.

With the wider rim and a little glue riders can run tire pressure as low as 5 PSI...The Glue keeps the tire from rotating which would result in shearing off the valve stem. Remember to glue only one side of the bead to the rim! For high powder conditions we'll run them at 20-30 PSI with out glue and run a normal shrader valve tube.

Winter Mountain Bike Rims and Wheels
These are also called Snowcats after the original rims we used to get from Alaska. But the real Snowcat rims unfortunately were discontinued a few years ago. Se we looked for replacment rims and stubled on the Bike Trials wheels. The best part is these new rims (ZHI Trials Rims - same as Echo and Try-All) are strong, light, and double wall construction. These rims were originally designed for bicycle trials riding and are lighter and stronger than Snowcats, for about the same price. We offer them as a rim alone or as a complete wheelset...We can also build to suit your needs just shoot us an e-mail or call.
