Saris' Bike Beam connects to your bike's seatpost and stem to simulate a standard top tube. It allows you to carry bicycles including full-suspension, women's and children's bikes, and those with oversize tubing on your trunk or hitch-mounted carrier.
After using the Saris Bike Beam one time, the bike seat clamp end wiggled its way out of the dovetail plastic piece that assists the two clamp ends in supporting each other when in the closed position. This meant that the weight of the bike on the seat end was really resting on just one side of the clamp closer end due to the way the clamp positioned itself under the seat.
Also, there is a nut that holds the clamp together that put a gouge after only one use in a plastic piece that is under the bike seat.
I returned the Saris product to the store and exchanged for the other brand they carry, a Yakima, that has a different design. Haven't tried it yet, but seems like it should fit our setup better.
Bottom LineNo, I would not recommend this to a friend
