Product Details

2014 Pivot Cycles Mach 429 (XT Standard)

Pivot's Mach 429 is a 29er that delivers big-wheeled speed with quick, lively handling. From the race circuit to the techy backwoods, its light aluminum frame and dw-link suspension gives you unrivaled climbing traction and bob-free acceleration. Stiffness is key, especially with 29ers, so the 429 boasts a 92mm-wide BB, stout 142x12mm rear through-axle, tapered head tube and a 1-piece carbon rocker, all of which combine to give you a bike that responds and corners like a dream. Plus, a 120mm Fox fork, Shimano's solid 2x10 XT gearing, tight DT Swiss wheels, and XT discs let the 429 rip like a purebred racer and descend like a true trail bike.

      Comments:

The cost of this bike made me hold off much longer than if I went with a lesser bike. I had a chance to demo '29er bikes from Specialized and Trek. Both were okay but neither got me really excited. I finally got the money to get this bike and I am sooooo glad I waited. Holy Cow! I am having so much fun riding. I'm clearing sections of technical trail easily; sections I struggled with for a long time on my old bike. Both up and down. Cornering is where I noticed the biggest difference. My old bike (2002 Stumpjumper FSR Comp) washed out all the time, which caused a lot of crashes and caused me to go a lot slower. This bike holds like its on a rail. If you're hesitant to get it because of the cost, I am certain you won't be disappointed. It's a solid bike which is comfortable to ride all day. I have been doing business with my LBS for 30 years and they are the best.
