Shaffer Rock
A.K.A. The Hermitage
Jim Malone setting up Yellow Pages Spring '94 Introduction:
Shaffer Rock is one of two crags at which I learned to climb. It is a beautiful stand of Pennsylvania granite with excellent features. Like most climbs in PA, all can be climbed on top rope with a few options for trad leading. The Appalachian Trail passes just down the hill from the rocks.

Rappel Crack(5.6) is an awesome climb involving a mantelling crux. It was my very first crack climb and each time I return to Shaffer's I have to get on it.

A faint rope can been seen set up on "Yellow Pages" (5.8) just left of Rappel crack.
