Getting to Sand Rock

Directions
Sand Rock, AL. is located south of Chattanooga TN. It is located near the small towns of Leesburg, and Centre Alabama. From Gainesville, drive north on I-75 to just south of Atlanta. You can continue north through Atlanta on I-75 until you intersect SR 41 north at exit #118. Follow it north past Cartersville, detouring onto Highway 411 (SR 20) west, follow this into Alabama. Once you're into Alabama, follow 411 through Centre to Leesburg. Turn right on Highway 68 West. You'll drive 2.7 miles up a long hill (gas station/store on right halfway). There will be a few ramshackle shops on the right atop the hill, just after the colorful "Welcome to Sandrock" sign. Look for a hard left turn onto County Road #36. you will pass a house on the right that has a swamp (pond) in the front yard "SWAMPY'S" place. Turn left on an indistinct narrow asphalt road with a barbed wire fence on both sides (you may think it's someone's driveway). This road winds uphill, Turn right at the fork in the road and continue on this road (which turns to turns to dirt)uphill until the road ends, park here. You can camp wherever you find a spot in the woods. The rocks / deep canyons / cliffs will be on your left as you drive up the dirt road. Plan on an 8 hour drive from Gainesville, Florida.

from Chattanooga follow I-75 turn onto I-24 (West), then head south on I-59. From I-59 travel about an hour from Chattanooga to the exit for Collinsville (turn right - under the highway)follow this till the first intersection, turn right onto highway 11 go a half mile to highway 68 (on left) turn left. follow 68 for six or seven miles past the welcome to Sandrock sign, to a 3 way intersection (with a gas station & pizza place on the left) bear right here on county road #36. you will pass a house on the right that has a swamp (pond) in the front yard "SWAMPY'S" place. Turn left on an indistinct narrow asphalt road with a barbed wire fence on both sides (you may think it's someone's driveway). This road winds uphill, Turn right at the fork in the road and continue on this road (which turns to dirt)uphill until the road ends, park here. You can camp wherever you find a spot in the woods.
