Introduction:
With help from Todd at Down Wind Sports in Marquette I was able to find Presque Isle. Presque Isle is a very well maintained park on the border of Downtown Marquette. If you are in the area you should head to this park and enjoy the views and hiking trails. In addition to the climbing potential this park has a very interesting LAVA FLOW coast. The Lava area is very recognizable by the abundance of black stone, this is also the best place for bouldering in the park. Presque Isle Point park is on the Lake Superior shores and offers several options for climbers including, Trad, Top Rope, and Bouldering (Absolutely NO SPORT routes here). Day hikers will enjoy this park for its many trails leading to lagoons, caverns, and beaches. The park is open to the public, you can expect to see a variety of users during your visit.

Previously park officials tried to close the park to climbers, but the Access Fund stepped in and found no cause to halt climbing activities within the park. The park is open to climbers, but remember that your actions could impact the continues use of this park.

The cliff line wraps around about 1/2 of the park's shoreline and ranges from 10-100 feet, comprised of a basalt. The majority of climbing here is face and slab, with the occasional overhangs or roof. The park is very well maintained and interesting to visit. F.Y.I. the rock has very little texture which might just force you to be a better climber. What the rock lacks in texture the park makes up for in scenery.

Food:
The best place to eat is the Sweet Water Cafe' directly across the street from Down Wind Sports, and just up the street from them is a very good bagel place. There are also many fast food and small diners to help keep you fed, again while you are visiting you must try a pasty at least once

Season:
Best time of year is summer when temps range between 60 and 80 degrees. Winter is an excellent time to try Ice Climbing, since temps are typically below freezing, and the area is filled with waterfalls. Michigan's Upper Peninsula is a nice break from climbing in the south, The temperature is always mild, and crowds are non existent.

Guidebooks:
I could not find any guidebooks for this park, but stop by "Down Wind Sports" for some assistance (they also have a weekly climbing social night).
