Introduction:
With
help from Todd at Down Wind Sports
in Marquette I was able to find all the Marquette region climbing areas.
I would suggest visiting there store before trying to find these areas.
He sent me out with a large topo map, whcih Abby and I found the clif
called "Slugs Bluff", named after after the gentleman, Slug Arbelius,
who owned the camp on top of the bluff and owned the little partystore/gas
station known as just "Slugs". Slug Bluff is located just outside
Palmer Michigan. The rock is a granite with slabs and short vertical faces
being the norm. Low texture hard stone with very few roofs or overhangs
to be found. The entire are is top rope or trad climbing only, no bolts
or real bouldering. Thanks to Russell Ault for sending me the updated information and historical facts about Slugs Bluff. Click for Directions
