Things to do at "The New"

The New River Gorge is located just south of Fayetteville, WV. the bridge spanning the river is a big attraction, being the longest suspension bridge. It is such a big deal they even have Bridge Day every year in October. During Bridge day base jumpers, are allowed to jump off the 1000 ft high structure. For the most part life around Fayetteville is a little quieter, friendlier, and slower. The typical one light southern town, but with 2 lights and some atypical activities.

West Virginia offers plenty of other activities especially near "The New". The New river and the Gauley river both offer White water rafting and Kayaking, Mountain biking for all skill levels, or hiking the miles of cliff base or top. Fishing, camping, and Boating are available at Summersville Lake.

Food:
Fayetteville and Summersville both offer supermarkets, fast foods, and restaurants. I would recommend the Sedona Grill, but it seems to have dissapeared! . The western pancake house is open late and has good breakfasts, but near Summersville is Fran's diner, downtown Summersville with good food, cheap prices, and fast service. Summersville also has a Pizza hut, and several fast food chains North of the lake. Here is a list of convenient, good restaurants:
