Introduction:
Thanks to Randy Ault who sent in some updated information and details. Also to Todd from Down Wind Sports in Marquette who made some maps and explaind how to get to some of these places. This area is visable from the road and located in downtown Negaunee, Michigan.Basically the entrance to this area is through a small apartment building's parking lot located off Maas Street. Again the rock here is a low textured, solid quartzite. The main face is a large slab with two distinctive diagonal cracks. A great place for the beginning leader as well as top rope climbing.
Abby and I discovered several smaller, more vertical faces as we took the easy hike to the top. The other cool thing about this little area is the view from the top, and while climbing. You will have a nicely exposed route where you are on this slab.
The top has very few anchor placements for setting top rope, so remember to bring some 30 plus foot long slings to connecd to trees.

Season:
Best time of year is summer when temps range between 60 and 80 degrees. Winter is an excellent time to try ice climbing, since temps are typically below freezing, and the area is filled with waterfalls. Michigan's Upper Penninsula is a nice break from climbing in the south, where temps are almost always in the 80's, but the quality of rock just isn't there.
