Beam Rock

Beam Rock Introduction:
Beam Rock is an interesting place. There's really a good deal of climbing there. The good news is it doesn't get much traffic and won't be crowded. The bad news is the lack of use can leave the rock a bit dirty. The climbs are good quality and look easier from the ground than they really are. Essentially the area is comprised of one main face (shown left), with a small cluster of vertical rocks. There are several big clean boulders to play on as well. If you are headed from Pittsburgh you can expect to take 90 minutes, given any amount of traffic.

Directions:
From Ligonier, PA. Follow Highway 30 S to Laurel Mountain Summit Ski Areas. Turn right off Highway 30 onto Laurel Summit Road for about 2 miles to ski area. Go past the ski area entrance about 2 miles. Parking for Beam's Rocks trailhead is on left. Don't park at the Beam Run area, continue past to the Beam Rocks sign. It's a three quarter mile hike to the rocks.
