Surly Krampus Review - by Adawg

Many of you may or may not know that we are now a stocking Surly dealer and, as such, we felt it our obligation to start off with some of the more interesting bikes from their line up, including the Cross Check, Pugsley, Pug Ops and of course the newest design...The Krampus (29 +). While the stock bike is pretty sweet, Aaron put out a challenge to make the same bike, but lighter and with hydraulic brakes. We also wanted to keep the cost/retail the same (stock Krampus is $1,949.99)

In the end, we were able to build a bike that is 3lbs lighter, has Hydro brakes and was only $100 more overall. Once this bike was built of course we had to test it out. Below you'll find Aaron's review which pretty much sums up this unique design. If you are interested in this bike built up as we have or other options please call. You can also order them on-line here on our catalog.

" I Put a lap in at Tree Farm yesterday afternoon...holy effin traction!!! Leaves be damned, I pushed this bike through every turn trying to break it loose. It stuck to the trail like "s**t on a blanket" (quote from Martin Ingman yrs back). Tires were at 18psi rear, 15 front."

Today's Tip

Wear, Don’t Carry, Your Helmet – While you may see cyclists riding with their helmets stylishly hung from their handlebars or backpacks, we strongly recommend keeping yours on your head every time you ride. This is important because accidents are called that for a reason. Even though you may think you’re safe riding down a quiet path or deserted trail, all kinds of things can go wrong — and when danger strikes, you may have no control over what happens. That’s why it’s smart to always keep your helmet on your head where it belongs. Besides, if you hang it from the bars, it could actually cause a crash by distracting you or even by falling off and into the front spokes.
